What to expect:
To schedule an appointment:
· Go to
· Take the Class D Knowledge Exam.
· Follow the prompts.

Anyone who cannot keep an appointment should cancel their appointment online at with as much notice as possible so that appointment can be opened up for someone else.

Come prepared
Minnesotans will be required to complete a wellness screening before entering the exam station and should come prepared.
· Wear a face mask (required).
· Bring required documents.
· Know your social security number.
· Bring check, cash or money order to pay the instruction permit fee and the retesting fee, if applicable.
o There is a $10 test fee for third or subsequent knowledge tests after failing the first two.
· If you are younger than 18:
o You must be at least 15 years old.
o Bring your certificate of enrollment (blue card) proving that you completed classroom instruction and are signed up for behind-the-wheel instruction, or bring your certificate of enrollment (pink card) proving that you are currently enrolled in a concurrent driver education course and have completed the first 15 classroom hours of the curriculum.
o A parent, court-appointed guardian, county-appointed foster parent or the director of the transitional living program you reside in will need to come with to sign and approve your application.
o If completed, bring the supplemental parental curriculum completion certificate.

Go to and select Take a Class D Knowledge Test. 
Follow the prompts. Name, date of birth and social security number are required. 
DPS-DVS will send an email to the email address provided during registration with the following information: 
​A link to the at home online knowledge test site.
Test ticket number. 
Unique security code. 
Testing and proctor instructions. 
​Proctors must be 21 or older and hold a valid Minnesota driver’s license. Proctors must agree that they will not provide assistance while proctoring the test.
​The test ticket number and security code will be needed to log in to the online knowledge testing site and complete the test. 
Once a person registers for the online knowledge test, they have 48 hours to take the test. 
After passing the exam - go to Nobles County License Center with Blue Card and 2 ID's to get your Permit.  After getting paper Permit, students are able to drive with a licensed adult older than 21. After getting about two weeks of introductory driving in - Call/text Mark to get your first Instructional appt. in

Great Plains Driving School offers classroom sessions every 6-8 weeks in the Worthington, Fulda, Heron Lake/Okabena(HLO) and Jackson County Central area.  If you are needing your drivers license and your 15th birthday is coming up, give us a call or email and we will get you signed up for a class that will suit your needs.

1.  $399 ($375 if paid 7 days before each class begins).
2.  Down Payment of $250($225 if paid 7 days before each class begins), with the first payment due before the first class to secure registration.  *The final  payment of $180 is due before the final class(or 30 days).  * Please note - the payment plan costs more.

The traffic Safety Education (drivers training) Course offered through Great Plains Driving School is a comprehensive program committed to preparing the inexperienced driver to be a safe operator in today’s driving environment.
